Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Residential Designer/Drafter who is passionate about residential design, understands residential construction, and takes pride in producing accurate, permit-ready construction documents.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing creativity with technical precision while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. You'll work directly with homeowners, builders, and internal team members to create exceptional homes while delivering an experience that exceeds client expectations.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed residential architectural and structural construction drawings.

• Design creative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing custom homes, additions, and remodels.

• Produce complete permit-ready plan sets with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

• Translate client ideas, sketches, and inspiration into buildable residential designs.

• Utilize 3D visualization tools to help clients clearly understand and refine their home designs.

• Meet directly with homeowners and builders to guide them through the design process and provide an exceptional customer experience.

• Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.

• Coordinate revisions and communicate effectively with clients and project partners.

• Collaborate with clients to refine layouts and architectural details while balancing creativity, structural integrity, budget, and constructability.

• Contribute ideas that improve processes, efficiency, and the overall client experience.

Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of residential drafting and/or residential design experience.

• Strong understanding of residential construction methods and structural drawing preparation.

• Proficiency working in CAD based software such as: Chief Architect, Revit, AutoCAD.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to manage multiple clients and projects while consistently meeting deadlines.

• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

• Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.

• Comfortable working independently while also collaborating within a team environment.

• The ability to think creatively while producing technically accurate construction documents.

• A strong eye for residential architecture, proportions, and design aesthetics.

• A passion for creating spaces that improve the way people live.

Preferred

• Experience with Chief Architect.

• Knowledge of residential building codes and permitting processes.

• Experience working in a production-oriented drafting or design environment.

• Experience designing custom homes—not simply drafting plans.
